It's late autumn in my part of the world, and here and there among the evergreens the deciduous trees are changing colour. I love gingko trees - here since the time of the dinosaurs, an evolutionary success story.
Apart from the elegant shape of their leaves, as they change from green to yellow they look like they've put on pretty party dresses. Autumn light sharpens and intensifies their colours to jewel brightness, and as the days get colder the gingko has one last hurrah before their long winter sleep.

I have 3 little gingkos I started from seeds. I hope they do as well here as there. You live in a beautiful place!

ReplyDeleteMy little home town streets are speckled with ginko trees, and ever since I was a little girl and learned they were so very old, I felt like they were special guests in the world, to be cherished and marveled at year round. The hickory trees where I live now turn a similar, glorious yellow. Thanks for the little post that says so much about elegance, endurance and noticing the world around us.
